The first habit we focus on is water consumption. This is because the human body is between 55-70% water and over 70% of Americans are chronically dehydrated. Our programs highlight the importance of water through materials, health talks, and tools. We ensure that every SAHNA person has a reusable water bottle and knows the benefits of staying hydrated. We motivate workers to drink their proper amount of water daily by giving them a personalized hydration schedule and reminders via the SAHNA wellness application.

In addition, most (90%) of the manufacturing workers in the SAHNA program don;t have access to clean water in their homes. Therefore, when a SAHNA client reaches his or her first health goal, they “unlock” the first incentive which is a subsidized water filter for their home. In using a water filter at home, users are able to save over $300 per year and those savings are just based on the alternative of not buying 5-gallon jugs… imagine how much the savings are when thinking about all of the soda the workers and their families used to buy.

Water access is a human right and that’s why we have incorporated it firmly in our model.
